Although ADCS hubs are encripted there is a small risk of getting "cheated" by so called Man in the middle attack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-in-the-middle_attack.
Therefore downloading hub's TLS certificate and placing it in your clients "Certificates" directory will eliminate this kind of issues.
2.What do i do with it?
Well after downloading - unzip it first. Put it in folder Certificates in DC++ or any other client that u might be using. Under normal for users using Winows OS this will be usually in users -> Username -> AppData -> Roaming -> DC++ -> Certificates or:
- Code: Select all
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\client_name\Certificates
Just drop the cert there and reconnect to hub. Now hub has T or S status for trusted or secured. There is no need of renaming it - hublist generates unique id for each cert file provided.
3.How do i upload certificate file as a hub owner?
Step 1. Make sure your hub software supports ADC protocol.
In older NeoModus only verlihub (latest version) has a way to do encryption.
So if you using Ptokax, YnHub forget about certs! Just stay the way u are.
For adc hubs that are able to serve adcs:// and latest verlihubs proceed to step 2.
Step 2: Make sure to setup adcs:// connections or on verlihub nmdcs:// so your hub now can do encryption. If it is all setup properly - now you can zip it's certificate (must be in .crt format and zipped .zip) and upload it to this hublist.. Upload option is in your menu under edit hub. Login to hublist to get access to it.
Good luck and happy and safe sharing.
